View Slides (PowerPoint Document) Now The Brass Are Dumbing Down The Young Officers Because of last years public tragedy regarding the space shuttle NASA is being forced to deal with the systemic failures in its own culture that make such tragedies inevitable. News reporting on the story lately focuses mostly on NASAs bureaucratic antecedents as the chief cause. I suggest a similar catastrophe may wait in the wings of the U.S. Armys training infrastructure. Full Story | Reader Feedback Inf

Marine SGT Sounds Off
I was a Marine and a Gulf war Vet and how I see this story so far...the vehicles involved did not follow convoy procedures, they were obviously close together when hit, as a result after the attack they stopped in a row (no herring-bone, no separation) rather than counter attack or leave the kill zone, some of them appear to possibly have even (rear-ended) each other. Reports
from an Enbed in Iraq
Despite a long period of preparation for this conflict, the post-war information vacuum that was sure to come seems to be forgotten again. As of now, there is not one FM radio station or local TV carrying the US message. In fact, they don't exist at all. People are left to their own devices for news and that means street rumor and Iranian TV, both the worst possible things for us right now. Full Story
Hell of a Hog ![]() It's hard to believe that this aircraft was still flying with all these bullet holes... The female in the first photo was the pilot. Not the first time an A-10 has brought back a Hog driver safely. What an aircraft! More Photos The Seeds of Victory To most of the world, the "tipping point" of the war with Iraq came after U.S. forces entered Baghdad and Saddam and his minions vanished in the swirling dust of his crumbling regime. But the truly decisive moment of the campaign seems to have been the decision, after that March 25 videoconference, to take the fight to the enemy just as Iraqi resistance was peaking. Full Story MEDIA: Good News From the Front On
April 3, the U.S. Army's 3rd Infantry Division was poised to move through
Iraq's Karbala Gap toward Baghdad. The fighting was widely expected to be
tough. Saddam Hussein's back was to the wall, and the Republican Guard's
Medina Division barred the way. The
original plan for the 3rd Division, a "heavy" force of Abrams
tanks and armored Bradley fighting vehicles, followed the precept of Hans
Guderian, legendary German tank commander of World War II: "fist, not
fingers." Armor should deliver a single smashing blow, not be spread
out in weaker individual thrusts.

Battle Report: Inside Skinny From A Colonel In Iraq The people who attack the truth telling are nothing but a bunch of cheerleaders, who are knowingly turning a blind eye to the OVERALL outcome of the plan. They continue to bring up the fact that 3ID and 1st Marines were able to continue the attack into Baghdad, despite the Fedayeen and Irregulars who attacked the MSR and were held up in the towns and cities bypassed by the attack. I agree, this was the case. I believe the 3ID and Marines kicked ass against the Fedayeen and the Irregular Isamic Volunteers, but, this is not reason I say we went in too light with not enough force. I would say that about one in twenty officers that I know even reads any military history. A lot of these young lieutenants and captains are so into chat rooms, video games and DVD’s that they are experts at PlayStation2, but probably think that Sun Tsu is some kind of dietary supplement. I spent most of my adult life in the active army, getting out around 2 years ago.
